Pillboxes/Bunkers

Bunkers or pillboxes according to me are actually just a modern interpretation of the motte and bailey style castles, small, quick to build and provide good protection. The Bodiam pill box is part of a network of defences that was hastily built in 1940 to prevent an anticipated German invasion. The most common of these defences were pillboxes - squat concrete forts that were sited at road junctions, canals and other strategic points and funny how they were even next to castles.

In Paul Verillio's book Bunker Archaeology he talks about the art of warfare and it's direct/indirect relation to architecture, where the space utilised is closely related to the land being fought for. What I mean is how technology has been used to defy nature and how in the past wars have been mainly related to expansion of countries plays a significant role in all this.
I believe bunkers are what you get when science and art unite. However all this said and done these do look like space ships and give hints of influence by "area 51".
